Massive war on tomorrow over here (3rd water battle this year), around 70 per team, overall about 150+ people. I'm organizer, not commander, but nevertheless I'll post on it from my perspective some time later.

Battlefield map can be seen in "The Urban Environment" article as well as a few other places, generally urban and open, with little cover. I don't expect it to be very strategic and easily documented in a battle report, although there is a possibility things may go better than expected, in any case Ill try my best to document it.

Each team has:
-1 commander
-3 captains
-12 squad leaders
-12 squads

Armour, shields and bombs will be issued to each team as armoury.

Game type:
Control points: Score is counted by time each team holds the control points. Score bonuses are given for teamwork, good effort in bomb-making and someother stuff. To be killed, a warrior has to be hit squarely by a water bomb anywhere except the head.

In other news, photos of the second war this year should be up soon. Gotta go, will post details later.

Wow, sounds epic.
Wish I my team could be there.
However If my long-term plans succeed, we should be having some pretty big New-England wars in a few years.

Can't wait for the pics and report.
Do you think you could get a video tapping of one of these wars someday?

Numbers like that = crazy war. A report and pictures would be amazing! And if you do type up some kind of report, could I have permission to enter it into SM's Battle Report Database?

Wow, sounds great! I can't even imagine what a war with such big opposing sides would be like. I'm really envious! To echo Duxburian's sentiments, when/if you release a report and/or photos, could I get your permission to repost them in Downpour's battle reports section?

Jebus. I'm going to have to borrow a teleporter to get there for that - I'd love to be involved with something that massive.

Man, sounds like fun. So no one is going to use soakers, only bombs?

That sounds fantastic. I Sooo wish that I could be there with my team. I have always dreamed of doing something that massive.
It would be hard with the numbers you battle, but a video sometime would be awsome. Do you use soakers at all? Or only balloons?

I would imagine that they primarily use balloons due to the sheer amount of people they have, the sheer amount of balloons that can be purchased, and the difficulty of finding 150 guns.

Yeah, looks like I forgot about him mentioning issues with the armory. Of course, everyone can spend a few bucks on a modern soaker if they aren't too eBay savvy, but lots of people never do. (a lot of my friends who come over to my fights usually have to borrow one of my guns)

It wouldn't be hard to have a war that big with soakers.
It may seem like a huge challenge for a single person to arm that many people, but all you have to do is get each participating person to bring at-least one gun for themselves.
Bam! You've instantly got a soaker equiped army with minimal effort on anybody's part.

It might be a tad bit harder to find that many soakers within a reasonable distance in...Singapore. I don't even know what stores are out there, nevermind those which sell water guns? Here's a typical clueless American for ya. :P

Back from today. I'm exhausted so I'll keep this short. Pictures haven't been processed yet.

If you think that was big, I've heard of another upcoming war with at least 400; where they're gonna hold that, who knows. Even by our standards, its going to be big. Training is in mind for us, so we can remain open to orders even within the chaos and thousands of flying water balloons. Our WBL would be a very effective intimidator as no one has really seen one before here, except for us.

We used primarily balloons due to the armoury problems, but those who had water guns brought theirs. There's quite a lot of big stores especially downtown that sell water guns, like Toys' R us, random shops, but whether they sell good ones is another issue altogether. So in the end, mainly bombs. Some people took up a supply role to provide the others in the battlefield with water bombs from the base.

In hindsight, the battlefield was too small. That made for very fast and furious close combat action, with people mostly dueling at ranges of under 2 metres. The engagements at more than 4m were ineffective as water bombs can be easily dodged from the front, except for those with water guns. To get in close, occasionally shield advances were used, which is how most assaults formed up. No one bothered counting deaths, because people died and respawned in droves. More like a middle ages battle in that sense.

Pict of battlefield from second war:
<a href="http://img132.imageshack.us/img132/4509/p2030236qb0.th.jpg" target="_blank">http://img132.imageshack.us/img132/4509/p2030236qb0.th.jpg</a>

There was one control point on the hill itself, one at the amphitheatre (where the people are) and one more behind the building out of this photo.

It is in this photo however (the roundabout, also from second war):
<a href="http://img225.imageshack.us/my.php?image=p2030265hr6.jpg" target="_blank">http://img225.imageshack.us/my.php?image=p2030265hr6.jpg</a>

Another random photo from second war (this being the hill):
<a href="http://img153.imageshack.us/my.php?image=p2030262lz2.jpg" target="_blank">http://img153.imageshack.us/my.php?image=p2030262lz2.jpg</a>

I'll post a battle report some other time, I'm too tired. :P

Sounds like a great war. Are there any larger battlefields around there? I've been to Singapore, a more built-up region though, and didn't really see any low-population areas.

Guys, prices could also be different there. And you should also consider that in the US and Western Europe, people are so much richer--pure currency conversions from the Singapore prices won't work.

A taste of Western insensitivity, I suppose...
